      Laboratory Division

      1. To enhance and strengthen skills of laboratory workers in the TB laboratory network across the country in timely and accurate diagnosis of TB & its drug resistance under NTEP.
      2. To provide quality assured clinical diagnostic services for tuberculosis to Karnataka districts under NTEP and referral services all over the country using state-of-the-art technologies.
      3. To function as National reference laboratory for monitoring and review of laboratory performance of TB laboratory network for quality assurance and continuous quality improvement in TB diagnostic services.
      4. To facilitate evaluation of innovative tools and technologies for improved and rapid detection of TB and drug resistance.
      5. To provide technical support to NTEP in development of technical guidance documents.

      1. To plan and conduct community and facility-based epidemiological, operational and implementation research in TB
      2. To Build capacity of programme managers/Medical college faculty in Protocol development, conducting research and for publication in association with CTD, State TB cells or UNION.
      3. To Conduct Research dissemination workshop for aiding programme and policy advocacy
      4. To Collaborate with various Institutions and Organizations for conducting multicentric operational/implementation research, TB surveys, mathematical modelling and regulatory clinical trials.
      5. To conduct Quality Improvement and Health System Resilience workshops for Programme Managers aimed at strengthening the TB care services to achieve the long-term goal of ending TB.

      1. Monitoring the performance of each STDC against their annual plan
      2. Supervisory visits to STDCs and provide feedback for their strengthening.
      3. To strengthen and build the capacity of the state to monitor and supervise the implementation NTEP in the state.
      4. Training-of-trainers: As master trainers to build the trainer resource pool at the state level and to provide Update training as deemed necessary.
      5. Provide technical support to IRLs located in STDCs. Also to build the capacity of IRLs to monitor and supervise laboratory services for TB in the state.
