- The Administration Division caters to all the administrative requirements of the Institute. The five units under this Division are
1. Establishment
2. Accounts
3. Hostel
4. Stores
5. Transport Units.
- The unit caters to the administrative matters, general upkeep of campus through CPWD, provision of contractual manpower to various divisions and service matters pertaining to the staff viz.
- The Civil, Electrical and Horticultural works of the Institute are being executed through the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), under the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India, out of the budget sanctioned to NTI during each financial year.
- The Institute has fleet of 6 vehicles and the unit is responsible for the upkeep of the vehicles including in-house repair of vehicles, if feasible.
- Stores unit cater to the logistic needs of various Units/Divisions of the Institute. It is responsible for procurement and supply of stores items for smooth functioning of the Institute.
- The hostel unit of the institute caters to the accommodation needs of medical & paramedical trainees attending various training programmes and also officials visiting from headquarters and other Institutions/Offices.
- The unit caters to the financial matters of the Institute.

The major activities of the units are briefly furnished below.
1. Establishment
- The unit caters to the administrative matters, general upkeep of campus through CPWD, provision of contractual manpower to various divisions and service matters pertaining to the staff viz.
- Framing of Recruitment Rules in respect of all Group ‘B’ & ‘C’ posts as per the recommendation of VII CPC and its onward transmission to the CTD for its notification, holding of DPC for considering cases of promotion, confirmation, grant of MACP, processing of legal issues pertaining to service matters coming under the purview of Central Administrative Tribunals and Honourable High Court of Karnataka & SLP in the Supreme Court.
2. Civil, Electrical & Horticultural works and maintenance
- The Civil, Electrical and Horticultural works of the Institute are being executed through the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), under the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India, out of the budget sanctioned to NTI during each financial year.
3. Transport Unit
History –Transport Unit housed a Transport Workshop, in house Petrol Bunk and Transport Stores and the Sheds for Vehicle Parking. The initial years of the Transport Unit witnessed Land Rovers, Bedford and Renault vehicles. These vehicles were supplied to the Institute by the World Health Organization. The Transport Unit had a fleet of over 70 vehicles during the inception days. Many of these vehicles were customized so as to mount X Ray Units in them for undertaking the various research activities. With the passage of time, the fleet has been gradually reduced.
The Initial Fleet comprising of more than 70 vehicles in the 1960s, travelling to the different corners of the Country, gradually reduced to 40 vehicles in the 1980s and the fleet comprised of approximately 24 vehicles in 2000s and presently, the Unit has 11 vehicles of which 3 are deemed for condemnation, 4 are eligible for condemnation and 4 vehicles which have been purchased in 2020s and are in running condition. The Transport Fleet has provided invaluable support to the Tuberculosis Control Programme in innumerable ways. The recent purchases of 4 Vehicles ( Maruti Ertiga – 2, Maruti Dezire – 1, Tata Nexon – 1) have been done in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
4. Stores Unit
Stores unit cater to the logistic needs of various Units/Divisions of the Institute. It is responsible for procurement and supply of stores items for smooth functioning of the Institute.
- This involves extensive procedures viz., receipt of indents from individual Units and their compilation, calling for quotations/ tenders, arrangements for opening the tenders, preparation of comparative statements and submission of the same to the Purchase Committee for its recommendations for further necessary action.
- The other functions of the Unit include:
i. Maintenance of stores /stock ledger.
ii. Arrangement for Annual Maintenance of equipment held by different Units/Divisions.
iii. Arrangement for Annual Stock verification.
iV. Arrangement for condemnation and disposal of unserviceable items as per Government laid down procedure.

5. Hostel Unit
- The hostel unit of the institute caters to the accommodation needs of medical & paramedical trainees attending various training programmes and also officials visiting from headquarters and other Institutions/Offices.
- The Institute has two hostel blocks viz., Krishna Nivas and Cauvery Nivas and a Guest House. Krishna Nivas block has 25 double bedded rooms; Cauvery Nivas has 9 single rooms & 5 guest rooms and the Guest House has 7 beds. The Mess attached to the Hostel provides hygienic boarding facility.
6. Accounts Unit
The unit caters to the financial matters of the Institute. This includes:
i. Preparation of annual budget and performance budget proposals.
ii. Drawing and disbursement of salaries, traveling allowances, medical reimbursement & other claims and advances related to the staff & officers.
iii. Calculation and disbursement of MACP arrears, Pay refixation, and payment of arrears.
iV. Processing of payments pertaining to procurements made through stores and annual maintenance contracts services.
