The core activity of the Institute is to provide:
- Induction training to develop the skills of health care workers to effectively implement the TB programme at peripheral, district and state levels.
- Updates on various facets of TB management to health care professionals.
- Participating in the development of technical and operational guidelines for elimination of TB.
- Preparation of training materials in line with technical and operational guidelines.
- Evaluation of training
Major Activities of the HRD Division is building the capacity of TB Workers of the region. The three units of the Division are: -
- Training Unit
- Computer Lab
- Library and Documentation Cell.
The functions and activities of the different units of the HRD Division are as follows: -
TRAINING UNIT
Functions | Activities |
· Training | - Building the capacity of teachers of medical colleges, medical officers and paramedical staff with the skill set and knowledge required to implement and sustain TB control activities, management of drug sensitive TB, TB comorbidity, TB-HIV Co-infection management, drug resistant TB management, data management and forging partnerships with all sectors involved in TB control activities. |
· Research | - Hand holding of the researchers till publication of the research papers. |
· Workshops and meetings related to TB

· Collaborating with SAARC in TB | - Training related to TB control, laboratory procedures, quality assurance, research and data management |
· WHO collaborating Centre · CDC ATLANTA, THE UNION & other national and global partners | - As a WHO Collaborating Centre, planning training activities in collaboration with WHO in line with global requirements |
