NTI participates in central Internal Evaluation to assess the implementation of the NTEP. Also, the institute has been identified as the nodal body to advocate the establishment of State TB Training and Demonstration Centres as per norms and provide the technical guidance for strengthening the already established ones. The other national institutes would support NTI, Bengaluru in this endeavour.
Role of NTI in STDCs:
- Supervision, monitoring and evaluation of STDCs (SM&E)
- Build capacity and expertise

Role of NTI in STDCs:
- Supervision, monitoring and evaluation of STDCs (SM&E)
- Build capacity and expertise
Activities:
- Monitoring the performance of each STDC against their annual plan
- Supervisory visits to STDCs and provide feedback for their strengthening.
- To strengthen and build the capacity of the state to monitor and supervise the implementation NTEP in the state.
- Training-of-trainers: As master trainers to build the trainer resource pool at the state level and to provide Update training as deemed necessary.
- Provide technical support to IRLs located in STDCs. Also to build the capacity of IRLs to monitor and supervise laboratory services for TB in the state.
